Holy Cross Softball Names Luke Wagner Assistant Coach
WORCESTER, Mass. - The College of the Holy Cross has named Luke Wagner as the new assistant softball coach, as announced by athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head softball coach Brian Claypool. Wagner will specialize in working with the defense along with all of his coaching duties.
Luke Wagner joins the Holy Cross softball coaching staff for his first season as an assistant coach in 2010. Wagner joins the Crusaders after serving as the co-head coach for the St. Pete Thunder U18 team in Saint Petersburg, Fla. during the 2010 summer. While with the Thunder, Wagner was responsible for designing practices, developing game strategies, refining the infield's defensive skill set, acting as the team's hitting coach and dictating the team's tempo by acting as third base coach during all games. Prior to the Thunder, Wagner was the head coach from 2008-2010 for the Gibbs High School varsity softball team, where in the first season he led the team to a winning record for the first time in three years. Wagner also served as the head coach for the North Port High School junior varsity baseball team in North Port, Fla. and the Sidney Lehman Catholic High School summer varsity baseball team in Sidney, Ohio.
Wagner earned his bachelor's degree in History in 2003 from Wittenberg University, where he played on the baseball team and served as the Intramural Student Coordinator.
