WORCESTER, Mass. – Five members of the Holy Cross softball team have been named to All-Patriot League teams, announced today by the league. Senior Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.) and freshman Sam Fregenti (Melville, N.Y.) were named to the first team, while juniors Tiffany Medwid (Imperial, Pa.), Caitlin Belanger (Fall River, Mass.) and Keeley Seniuk (Phoenix, Ariz.) were named to the second team.
Audette, an outfielder, completed the year with a career-best .349 batting average. In league play, she led the Crusaders and was fourth in the league with a .404 batting average, fourth with a .460 on base percentage and second with eight doubles. Audette finished her career with 37 stolen bases, which are tied for third all-time at Holy Cross. Audette was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I second team.
Fregenti earned first team All-Patriot League honors as a designated player. Over the course of the season, she started 31 games in the designated player position, finishing with a team leading .384 batting average, .598 slugging percentage and .470 on base percentage. She finished the season fourth in the Patriot League with a .604 slugging percentage in league play. On April 12, Fregenti became just the second Crusader in Holy Cross history to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Medwid and Belanger were named second team All-Patriot League for the first time in their careers, while Seniuk picks up her second, second team honor. Medwid started all 45 games this season at short stop, recording a .246 batting average and tied for fourth in the Patriot League with three home runs against league opponents. Belanger, who started 19 games in the pitcher's circle and 23 games at second base, earned All-Patriot League honors at the utility position. Belanger led the league and set a new Holy Cross school record with 27 stolen bases and was named Patriot League Player of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week after leading Holy Cross to 4-2 record the week of April 19-25. Seniuk made 33 starts in left field and four in center field for the Crusaders, finishing the season with a career-best .325 batting average. Seniuk hit nine doubles this season and now ranks fourth all-time at Holy Cross with 27 career doubles.
Holy Cross (14-31, 8-12 Patriot League), which finished tied for fourth place in the final standings, earned the most All-Patriot League selections since the 2001 season when it also had five student-athletes named to All-Patriot League teams. Lehigh led the way with six student-athletes and two of the Patriot League's four major awards. Holy Cross was close behind Lehigh, with five student-athletes, while Army and Bucknell had four selections apiece. Colgate followed with three All-Patriot League honorees, while Lafayette had one.
