Holy Cross Softball Drops Two At Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa.  – The Bucknell Bison scored 16 runs on 21 hits to defeat the Holy Cross softball team in Patriot League doubleheader action Saturday afternoon at the BU Softball Field in Lewisburg, Pa. With the two losses, Holy Cross falls to 4-16 (0-2 Patriot League), while the Bison improve to 10-8 (2-0 Patriot League).

Game 1

Bucknell scored eight runs on 10 hits to defeat the Crusaders 8-0 in five innings. Senior Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.) pitched four and one third innings in the loss. Bucknell’s Gates pitched five complete innings, giving up four hits and striking out two batters. The Bison out-hit the Crusaders 10-4.

Game 2

Bucknell scored six runs in the first inning to take a 6-0 lead. Holy Cross scored its only run of the day when sophomore Camille Trainor (Worcester, Mass.) scored on an RBI single by sophomore Gwen Reimer (Pottsville, Pa.) in the fifth inning. Bucknell scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the game 8-1. Junior Katie Alexander (Tigard, Ore.) suffered her third loss of the year, falling to 1-3. Freshman Jenna Legros (Sandy Hook, Conn.) entered the game in relief, pitching five and two thirds innings and giving up four runs on eight hits.

Holy Cross will continue Patriot League action against Bucknell tomorrow, April 4, with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
