WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior midfielder Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) has been named the Brine Patriot League Offensive Player of the week for games played Oct. 27 - Nov. 2. Boland scored three goals as the Crusaders shutout Lafayette 4-0 in Patriot League action.
Boland led the way for the Crusaders, scoring the first goal of the afternoon at the 4:38 mark. Boland drew Lafayette's goal keeper, Allison Malloy, away from the net and put the shot in the goal. Boland recorded her second assist of the season, giving her seven career assists, when she made the pass to junior Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.) for the second Crusader goal of the game.
Boland scored her second goal of the game off a penalty kick. She then put the game out of reach for the Leopards when she scored her third goal of the afternoon, putting Holy Cross up 4-0 and giving her the hat trick. This was Boland's first career hat trick and she completes her career as a Crusader with 14 goals. Boland finishes her career at Holy Cross ninth on the career points and goals record list.
The Crusaders close out the 2008 season 4-14-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the Patriot League.
