WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior goalkeeper Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the Patriot League Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, for her performance in games against Army and Hartford. She tied her season-high for saves with 15 as she allowed only one goal in Holy Cross' 1-1 tie with Army in the Patriot League opener on September 29, at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. Pietrowicz then stopped four shots and allowed one goal as she played in the first half of the Crusaders' 3-1 loss at Hartford.
Pietrowicz currently leads the Patriot League in saves (88) and saves per game (7.33), while she was ranked 23rd in the nation in saves per game in games through September 24. She has played in 43 of Holy Cross' games during her collegiate career, including six games as a field player in 2004. Pietrowicz has made 26 starts in goal in her career, while last season she ranked third in the Patriot League in saves per game with 5.40. Pietrowicz earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2004 and 2005.
The Crusaders (2-8-2, 0-0-1 Patriot League) return to action on Friday, October 6, when they host Patriot League opponent American at 7:00 p.m., at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.
