Women's Soccer Set To Face Siena On Wednesday Night

  • Holy Cross will play just one time this week, when it plays host to Siena on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:00 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Saints will be available through live video streaming on the internet as part of the Crusader All-Access package.   • The Crusaders split a pair of contests last weekend, and now stand 1-7 overall this season. On Friday, Sept. 19, Holy Cross was defeated at Fairfield, 2-1. The Crusaders then came back to post a victory at Wagner on Sunday, Sept. 21, winning 3-1.
  • Freshman midfielder Katherine Donnelly (Londonderry, N.H.) had an outstanding week for the Crusaders, scoring three of the team's four goals and earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors. In the Fairfield game, she scored early in the second half to give Holy Cross a 1-0 lead, before the Stags came back to win. Donnelly then had her first career two-goal game in the victory at Wagner. Her first goal broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half and proved to be the game-winner, then she added the final goal of the game less than five minutes later. On the season, Donnelly now leads the team in scoring with nine points on four goals and one assist.
  • Junior forward Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season in the victory at Wagner. Stand now ranks second on the team in scoring this season with six points on two goals and two assists. Over the course of her Holy Cross career, she has recorded seven goals and four assists for 18 points.
  • Junior goalkeeper Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) earned her first victory of the season against Wagner, making four saves while allowing just one goal. She also played well against Fairfield, making 11 saves and giving up two goals. On the year, Stone now has a 2.21 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
