Crusader Women's Soccer Ranked Seventh In Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team has been picked to finish seventh in the 2006 Patriot League preseason poll, as voted by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors. Lehigh finished first in the poll with 89 total points and seven first place votes, followed by the Colgate with 87 points and eight first place votes. Navy (69 points, one first place vote), Bucknell (68 points), Army (52 points), American (41 points), Holy Cross (22 points) and Lafayette (20 points) rounded out the voting.
Holy Cross is coming off a 2005 season in which it went 3-15 overall and placed seventh in the Patriot League with a 1-6 mark in conference games. The Crusaders return 10 starters and 20 letterwinners from that squad, including five of the top six scorers on the team.
Holy Cross will open the 2006 season on Friday, August 25, when it plays host to Providence a 4:00 p.m. game at the new Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. Patriot League play will begin on Friday, September 29, when the Crusaders play host to Army at 7:00 p.m.
