WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and head coach Deb Flaherty have announced the 2006 schedule for the Crusader women's soccer team. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 20 games this season, including 12 contests at home.
The Crusaders will open the season with a pair of home games against Providence (Aug. 25) and Manhattan (Aug. 27). Following a contest at Fairfield on Aug. 29, Holy Cross returns home to take on Siena (Sept. 1) and Boston College (Sept. 3). The Crusaders then hit the road once again to face Northeastern on Sept. 5.
Holy Cross returns to Worcester for its next three contests, starting on Sept. 9 against Maine. The other games in the home stand come against Albany (Sept. 12) and New Hampshire (Sept. 20). The Crusaders then travel to Sacred Heart on Sept. 22, before playing host to Quinnipiac on Sept. 24.
The Patriot League opener is scheduled for Sept. 29 against Army at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium. Following a non-conference game at Hartford (Oct. 1), Holy Cross then plays host to American (Oct. 6) and Navy (Oct. 8). The final non-league contest comes on Oct. 11 at Harvard, while the final home game of the season will be played against Lafayette on Oct. 14. The Crusaders conclude the regular season with three straight road games, at Colgate (Oct. 20), Bucknell (Oct. 22) and Lehigh (Oct. 28).
The Patriot League Tournament is set for Nov. 3-5, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will take part in the tournament.
The 2006 Crusaders return 10 out of 11 starters from last year's team, which went 3-15 overall and 1-6 in the Patriot League.
