Providence, R.I. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team lost to Brown, 3-1, Wednesday night at Stevenson Field.
With the win the Bears snapped a four-game losing streak and improve to 5-8, while the Crusaders fall to 3-10.
Scoring Holy Cross' lone goal was freshman Alison Peters (Bolton, Mass.). Brown held the Crusaders scoreless most of the game until Peters scored her second goal of the season in the 83rd minute.
The match remained scoreless at the end of the first half. Brown's Christine Serdjenian (Waterville, Maine) opened up the second scoring the first goal of the game just 39 seconds on a cross from Michelle Sriwongton (Rosemead, Calif.). Minutes later Meghan Schreck (Hudson, Mass.) added an insurance goal in the 48th minute on a pass Susie Keller (Cincinnati, Ohio). Kim LaVere (Chatsworth, Calif.) headed the ball into the net, putting the Bears up by three at 58:06 on a corner kick from Serdjenian.
Sophomore Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) started in goal for the Crusaders and stopped a season-high 10 shots and allowed three goals. Hillary Wilson (Monterey, Calif.) saved seven of eight Holy Cross shots faced.
Holy Cross takes on Navy in an early morning match at 10 a.m., in Annapolis, Md. The Crusaders return home on Saturday, Oct. 30 to take on league rival Lehigh on Senior Day at 1 p.m.
