Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team was shutout by Colgate, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Hart Soccer Field.
Sophomore Eileen Geoghegan (Merrimac, Mass.) halted the Raiders scoring in the second half, stopping one shot to keep Colgate at three goals.
All the Raiders goals were scored within the first 20 minutes of the game. Junior Carolyn Warhaftig (Wyckoff, N.J.) scored the first-goal and game-winning goal of the game at just 2:30 into the match on a pass from freshman Franny Iacuzzi (Evanston, Ill.) and Kelly Kuss (Wamers, N.Y.).
Iacuzzitabbed the second goal of the game off of a pass from Kuss at the 11 minute mark; it was her 13th goal of the season. Megan Bergan (Seattle, Wash.) rounded out the Raiders scoring at 18:02 into the game off of a pass from Heather McSherry (Stony Point, N.Y.).
The Crusaders had several scoring chances but was blanked by a combination of three Raiders goalkeepers. Luisa Miller (Washington, D.C.) started in goal and stopped 3 saves in the first half, Carly Sousa (Darien, Conn.) stopped three goals in 42 minutes of action, while Brittany Pearsall (LaGrange, Ill.) halted one goal in the last three minutes of the game.
Holy Cross next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 13 against Harvard at 3 p.m. The Crusaders return home one last time on Saturday, Oct. 30 to take on league rival Lehigh on Senior's Day at 1p.m.
