Crusaders Lose to American

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team was defeated by American University , 1-0, Saturday afternoon at the Hart Soccer Field.

The Crusaders had several attempts at making a goal, but were stopped by American goalkeeper Alison Doyle (Tampa, Fla.), who made seven saves for the win. Leading Holy Cross with three shots on goal was sophomore Meredith Davis (Worcester, Mass.).

Sophomore Christina Gonzalez (Valley Stream, N.Y.) scored the lone goal of the game at the 14 minute mark on a cross from freshman Irene Karistinos (Old Bethpage, N.Y.), to put American up by one.

Freshman keeper Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) tallied three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Crusaders, now 1-6, travel to Amherst when they battle against Massachusetts on Monday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m. They return home on Wednesday, Sept. 29, when they take on Quinnipiac at 4 p.m.
