Crusader Women's Soccer Edged By Bucknell, 2-1

Worcester, Mass.- Bucknell scored two goals late in the game as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Bucknell, 2-1, in Patriot League action, on Sunday afternoon at Assumption College. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-14 overall (1-5 PL), while the Bison improve to 9-8 overall (3-3 PL).
After a scoreless first half, the Crusaders got on the board at the 61:16 mark when sophomore Kaitlin McTague (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) sent a through ball to junior Meredith Davis (Worcester, Mass.). Davis drove with the ball while fending off a defender, and then she knocked the ball pass the goalie into the net for her second goal of the season. Bucknell then started to create offensive opportunities as Jennifer Margolis (64:18) and Shannon Curd (77:16) each hit the crossbar.
The Bison were able to tie it when Caitlyn Kuntz trapped a clear by the Crusaders 30 yards out, then took a long shot that rolled into the lower right corner of the net at the 82:05 mark. Bucknell took the lead for good just a minute later when Jennifer Dervarics controlled a cross by Margolis at the top of the penalty area, and then shot it into the lower right corner.
Crusader sophomore goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) made eight saves, while Bucknell's Katie Dry stopped two shots for the win.
The Crusaders conclude their season when they host Lehigh for Senior Day at Hart Soccer Field, on Sunday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m.
