LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Bucknell, 3-1, in Patriot League action on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-13-2 overall (1-4-1 Patriot League), while the Bison improve to 11-4-1 overall (5-1-0 Patriot League). Sophomore Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season for the Crusaders.
Holy Cross wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when Boland gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at just 1:14 into the game. Junior Alison Peters (Bolton, Mass.) assisted on the goal. The Bison then tied the game at the 10:30 mark with a goal off a header by Krista Lee Gentile.
In the second half, Bucknell took the lead for good when Jennifer Margolis netted a goal at the 77:10 mark. The Bison increased their lead to 3-1 with Margolis' second goal of the game at 81:36.
Holy Cross freshman goalie Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) played the first half and made four saves, while junior Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) played the second half with five saves. Bucknell's Katie Dry made three saves.
The Crusaders return to action when they hit the road to face Lehigh in the season finale on Saturday, October 28 at 4:30 p.m.
