LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Bucknell in Patriot League action Friday night. The Crusaders were unable to generate any offense in the 3-0 loss. With the loss, Holy Cross falls to 3-10 (1-1 Patriot League) and Bucknell improves to 7-4 (1-1 Patriot League).
Bucknell scored early in the first period, at the 12:05 mark, on the breakaway by Jennifer Dervarics, assisted by Caitlin Holtz. The Crusader's strong defense held Bucknell for the remainder of the first half. In the beginning of the second half, at the 49:21 mark, Dervarics shot from 30 yards out. The ball deflected off the hands of junior goalkeeper, Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.) and into the goal. Kellian Doherty scored Bucknell's final goal, at the 58:12 mark, on a rebound after a flurry in the box.
Stone had nine saves for Holy Cross and now falls to 3-10. Bucknell's Kathryn Sutton recorded her sixth shutout of the season and improves to 7-4-2.
The Crusaders continue Patriot League action in Hamilton, N.Y. on Sunday October 12, 2008 against Colgate starting at 1:00 pm.
