Holy Cross Women's Soccer Defeated By Navy, 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women soccer team fell to Navy, 2-0, in Patriot League women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-10-2 (0-2-1 Patriot League), while the Mids improve to 14-0-0 (3-0-0 Patriot League). Junior goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Crusaders.
Navy broke a scoreless tie at the 38:09 mark when Carmen Myers headed in a cross off a corner kick by Cassie Barbaresi for her third goal of the season. In the second half, the Mids increased their lead to 2-0 at the 48:45 mark on a very similar goal. Meggie Curran sent a corner kick to Shelly Moeller who then headed it into the net for her fifth goal of the year.
Navy goalie Lizzie Barnes stopped two shots to earn her eighth shutout of the season as she has only allowed one goal all year, while the Mids have only given up three goals as a team.
The Crusaders return to action when they hit the road to face Fairfield in a non-conference game on Tuesday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m.
