Holy Cross Women's Soccer Tops Manhattan 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior goalkeeper Jessica Stone (Rockville Md.) had her second shutout of the season as the Holy Cross women's soccer team defeated Manhattan 2-0. The Crusaders scored in both periods, gaining the win and improving to 3-9 while the Jaspers fall to 4-5-1.
With less than six minutes remaining in the first half, at the 39:41 mark, sophomore Lauren Wright (Biglerville, Pa.) scored first for the Crusaders off of the corner kick by junior Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.). Wright headed the ball into the net to score her fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, at the 61:38 mark the Crusaders scored on an unassisted goal by Stand. The goal was Stand's fifth goal of the season and moved her to the top of the points list for the Crusaders.
Stone earned her second shutout of the season, making nine stops and improving her record to 3-9. With the loss, the Jasper's goalkeeper Alyssa Bachowski had two saves and falls to 1-1.
Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, October 10, when it travels to Bucknell for a game scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
