Holy Cross Women's Soccer Defeated By Brown, 4-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior co-captain, Casey Boland (Langhorne, Pa.) scored an unassisted goal as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Brown, 4-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-9 on the season, while the Bears improve to 4-3-2.

Boland scored an unassisted goal at 19:02 to put the Crusaders up 1-0. The Bears answered Boland's goal at the 34:53 mark, when Kiki Manners scored off a rebound. At the 68:46 mark, Marybeth Lesbirel put the ball into the top left corner of the net to give Brown a 2-1 lead. Lesbirel scored again at 70:37 for Brown's third goal of the game. Kellie Slater scored Brown's final goal at the 76:00 mark on a shot over Holy Cross junior goal keeper Jessica Stone (Rockville, Md.).

Stone played a complete game and had six saves while Brown's Brenna Hogue earned the win for the Bears.

The Crusaders begin conference play on Saturday, October 4 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on Lehigh at 4:30 p.m.
