Crusader Women's Soccer Defeated By Army, 3-1

West Point, N.Y.- The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to Army, 3-1, in the first Patriot League game for each team, on Friday evening under the lights at Clinton Field, in West Point, N.Y. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 2-9 (0-1 PL) on the season, while the Black Knights improve to 6-4 (1-0 PL).
Army got on the board first when Jen Pascucci scored at the 20:38 mark with an assist given to Delaney Brown. Pascucci extended the lead when she scored an unassisted goal from 25 yards out for her second goal of the game at the 28:17 mark.
The Crusaders cut the lead in half when sophomore Meighan Kelly (Colts Neck, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season from a corner kick by senior Allison Hayes (Baldwin, N.Y.) at the 67:43 mark. Army put the game out of reach when Brown scored off of a direct kick from 28 yards out.
Holy Cross sophomore goalie Jessica Pietrowicz (Worcester, Mass.) made five saves, while Army goalie Rebecca Garcia also stopped five shots for the win.
The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Washington, D.C., to take on Patriot League foe American on Friday, October 7, at 3:00 p.m.
