Women’s Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule

2014 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross Director of Athletics Nathan Pine and head women's soccer coach Darren Gallagher have announced the Crusaders' schedule for the 2014 season. Holy Cross is scheduled to play a total of 18 games during the regular season consisting of nine contests against Patriot League teams and nine games versus non-conference opponents. The team will play 10 games at home and eight on the road.

The Crusaders start the 2014 season with an away game versus Siena on Aug. 22 and then open their home schedule against LIU Brooklyn on Aug. 25 at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium. The team then travels to New Hampshire (Aug. 28) and Bryant (Sept. 2) before returning home for four games against Maine (Sept. 5), Albany (Sept. 7), Fairfield (Sept. 11) and North Dakota State (Sept. 14). Holy Cross will wrap up its non-conference schedule at UMass Lowell on Sept. 17.

Holy Cross hosts Loyola on Sept. 20 to begin Patriot League play before traveling to American on Sept. 27. The Crusaders will then host the defending Patriot League champion and 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Boston University on Oct. 1. After travelling to Lafayette (Oct. 4), Holy Cross will return to Worcester for a match against Colgate (Oct. 11). The Crusaders will then travel to Navy (Oct. 17) and Army (Oct. 22) before concluding the regular season with two home games against Bucknell (Oct. 25) and Lehigh (Nov. 1).

The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the Patriot League Tournament, which will be held on November 7-9. The No. 3 seed will face the No. 6 seed, and the No. 4 seed will face the No. 5 seed in the quarterfinals with the higher seed hosting each game. The tournament will then be re-seeded after the quarterfinals with the No. 1 seed hosting the semifinals and the championship game.

Last season, the Crusaders went 2-12-4 overall and 2-7-0 in Patriot League games. Holy Cross has 15 players returning for the 2014 season.
