HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate's Caroline Brawner scored a goal with just 7:03 remaining in the second half, to break a scoreless tie and lift the Raiders to a 1-0 victory over the Holy Cross women's soccer team at Van Doren Field. The Crusaders fall to 2-8-3 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League with the loss, while Colgate improves to 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in the conference.
The lone goal of the game occurred late in the second half, when the Raiders' Catherine Williams sent a pass to Brawner in the penalty box. Brawner then used just one touch to find the net for her fourth goal of the season.
Colgate held a narrow 11-10 advantage in shots on the day, while Holy Cross had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) made five saves for the Crusaders, while Brenna Mason posted five saves for the Raiders.
Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when it plays host to UMass-Lowell at 7:00 p.m.
