Women’s Soccer Announces 2013 Captains

2013 Women's Soccer Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's soccer head coach Darren Gallagher has announced that seniors Alyssa Heiser (Bristol, Conn.) and Sarah Kelley (Bedford, N.H.) as well as juniors Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) and Ally Pasquariello (Suffield, Conn.) will be team captains for the 2013 season.

Heiser has appeared in 47 contests at forward during her career with one start. She has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll three times.

Kelley has started in 45 of her 48 career games at midfield, including 15 in 2012. She tallied one assist last season and tied a career-high with 17 shots. For her career, Kelley has two goals and a pair of assists for six points. She scored one game-winning goal in overtime versus Rider on Sept. 26, 2010. Kelley was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2011 and is a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.

McCabe has played in 28 games as goalkeeper for the Crusaders with 27 starts. Last season, she totaled career highs in goals against average (1.11), save percentage (.842), wins (5) and shutouts (4). She currently holds the lowest goals against average in Holy Cross history at 1.17 and ranks fifth all-time with an .834 save percentage. McCabe has been named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week three times during her career and is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Pasquariello has started in 25 of her 29 career games at defense, including all 18 in 2012. Last season she was part of a Holy Cross defense that posted a 1.52 goals against average and she recorded her first career collegiate assist in a 2-1 victory over Lafayette (10/13). She was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week once in 2012 and is member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.

Holy Cross opens the 2013 regular season on Friday, August 23 as it will head to Portland, Maine to take on Maine at 4:00 p.m.
