WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team was selected to finish in a tie for eighth place in the 2013 Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. Boston University, one of the two new member schools to the Patriot League, was picked to finish first with 152 points and 12 first place votes. 2012 Patriot League runner-up Navy was chosen second with 144 points and four first place votes, while defending champion Colgate was voted third with 138 points and four first place votes. New member Loyola (Md.) was tabbed fourth in the poll with 101 total points, while Army came in at fifth with 98 points. Lehigh (73 points, sixth), Bucknell (69 points, seventh), American (47 points, eighth), Holy Cross (47 points, eighth) and Lafayette (31 points, tenth) round out the bottom five in the poll.
The Crusaders return 16 players from last year's squad and welcome seven newcomers to the team. Holy Cross kicks off the 2013 season on Friday, August 23 when it travels to Portland, Maine to take on the University of Maine at 4:00 p.m.
