Women's Soccer Announces 2013 Freshman Class

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head women's soccer coach Darren Gallagher has announced the 2013 freshman class for the upcoming fall season. Maggie Carey (Windham, N.H.), Courtney Cohen (Lake Grove, N.Y.), Haley DesRosiers (West Newbury, Mass.), Brooke Holle (Upper Saddle River, N.J.), Claire Malone (Glen Ridge, N.J.) and Christina Napolitano (Hollis, N.H.) will join the Holy Cross program for the 2013-2014 academic year.

"It's a terrific class," Gallagher explained. "This is a group of players that will add real quality and depth to our roster. It is also a varied class in terms of position. We have several exciting attacking options arriving, which was an area of concentration for us in the recruiting process. We are also fortunate to add a couple of outstanding defenders and a goalkeeper. These players are highly decorated at the elite club level and will bring personality, experience and a winning mentality.

Courtney Cohen F Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North ISA Sting, N.Y. "Courtney Cohen is a very technical forward that is strong and clever in possession. She can be a provider and a goal-scoring threat. Courtney has experience at the highest levels of club soccer and represented our region at multiple events including national training camps."
Haley DesRosiers F West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional New England Aztecs, Mass. "Haley DesRosiers is a strong powerful forward player that can play centrally and in wide areas. She can hold the ball and link play as well as being a danger in 1v1 situations.  Haley is tenacious and a real physical presence in the final third."
Brooke Holle GK Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlights SDFC Lynx, N.J. "Brooke Holle has had a spectacular year at the high school and club levels garnering numerous awards. She's a great shot stopper and has excellent penalty box instincts. Brooke is a terrific athlete and as a freshman will provide great competition for our returning goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.)."
Claire Malone D Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge SDFC Lynx, N.J. "Claire Malone is a very gifted, cultured center back who has all of the tools to play at this level. She is extremely athletic and demonstrates a natural leadership with her organization skills, 1v1 defending and quality in possession."
Christina Napolitano F Hollis, N.H./Groton School Stars of Massachusetts, ECNL, Mass. "Christina Napolitano is a physical, quick forward who has a real eye for goal. She is great in both back to pressure situations and going to goal. Christina also presents a valuable aerial threat and will be a wonderful target player in the box. She's a very exciting talent."
