WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward Annie Galvin (Attleboro, Mass.) has been named BRINE Patriot League Rookie of the Week for games played Sept. 17-23, as announced by the league. Galvin tallied her fourth goal of the season against New Hampshire (Sept. 19). This is the first BRINE Rookie of the Week award for Galvin.
The Crusaders suffered a tough 2-1 loss in overtime to the Wildcats. The lone goal for Holy Cross came off Galvin's foot with just 8:05 remaining in the second half to tie the score, 1-1. The team returned to action on Saturday, Sept. 22, earning a 1-0 victory over Manhattan on the road in Riverdale, N.Y.
Galvin now leads the team in goals and points with four and eight, respectively. She is also tied for the team lead in game-winning goals with two. Galvin becomes the third Crusader to receive recognition from the league this season, as junior Cassie Muzik (Massapequa, N.Y.) won offensive player of the week during week one and sophomore Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) won goalkeeper of the week in week two.
Holy Cross will return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 29, hosting Army in its first Patriot League action of the season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. and can be seen live on Crusader Vision.
