Women's Soccer Set To Face Providence

- The Holy Cross women's soccer team (1-0-0 overall) continues the 2012 season on Friday, Aug. 24, hosting Providence at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders will also play its final exhibition game on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at home versus UMass Lowell at 11:00 a.m.
- Providence (1-1-0 overall) opened its season on Friday, Aug. 17, with a 3-0 loss on the road versus No. 11 Boston College. The Friars rebounded against Patriot League opponent Army, defeating the Black Knights by a score of 3-1 on Sunday, Aug. 19. Providence is led offensively by senior Laura DiClemente, who netted two goals in the victory over Army.
- Holy Cross junior Cassie Muzik (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career against Wagner on Sunday, Aug. 19. She was named the BRINE Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness Women's Soccer Patriot League Player of the Week for the first times in her career. Her four points are tied for the team lead with senior Maura Fox (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who recorded a goal and two assists in the win. Senior defenseman Maggie McGoldrick (Cohasset, Mass.) also recorded the first assist of her career and senior Hannah Earner (Pembroke, Mass.) posted her first career game-winning goal.
- This is the fourth time in the previous six years the Crusaders have begun the season 1-0-0. Muzik's Offensive Player of the Week award marks the first time since the 2009 season a Crusader has won the award. The four goals scored in the 4-1 victory over Wagner also marked the first time since the 2009 season that Holy Cross tallied four goals in one contest. The Crusaders improved its head-to-head record versus the Seahawks to 3-1-0.
