Schedule: Sunday, Aug. 19 vs. Wagner, Worcester, Mass., 7:00 p.m.
- The Holy Cross women's soccer team kicks off the 2012 season on Sunday, Aug. 19, against Wagner at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders hold an all-time record of 2-1 against the Seahawks, although Wagner did win the last meeting between the schools 4-1 in 2010. This year's contest will serve as the season-opener for both teams.
- Sophomore midfielder Gina Righini (Salem, N.H.) is the top returning scorer for the Crusaders in 2012. Righini started all 17 games for Holy Cross last season, and led the team with four goals for eight points. Included among her goals were the game-winners in both of the Crusaders' victories last year, against Bryant and Central Connecticut. Following the conclusion of the season, Righini earned second team All-Patriot League honors.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) looks to provide a solid presence in the net for Holy Cross again this year. Last season, McCabe started 14 games and posted a 1.23 goals against average with 86 saves and an .827 save percentage. She placed fourth on the all-time school single-season list for the lowest goals against average.
- Senior midfielder Maura Fox (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and senior defender Maggie McGoldrick (Cohasset, Mass.) are serving as the Crusaders' team captains in 2012. Both players are in their second year as captains, after previously serving in the role in 2011. Fox has played in 53 career games while totaling 16 points on seven goals and two assists. McGoldrick has played in 47 career games as a key part of the Holy Cross defense.
