WORCESTER, Mass. – Seventeen members of the Holy Cross women's soccer team have been selected to the 2011 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office. Leading the Crusaders were senior defender Micaela Collins (Skillman, N.J.) and senior defender Kelsey Dillon (Barrington, R.I.), who were named to the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth time during their collegiate careers.
Senior forward Liz Early (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made her third career appearance on the Academic Honor Roll, while Holy Cross players named to the team for the second time in their careers include junior goalkeeper Ashlyn Angell (Raleigh, N.C.), sophomore defender Tricia Giglio (Acton, Mass.), sophomore forward Alyssa Heiser (Bristol, Conn.), junior midfielder Kellie Wiederhold (Wyckoff, N.J.) and senior midfielder Lauren Wright (Biglerville, Pa.).
The Crusaders had nine other players selected to the Academic Honor Roll for the first time, in sophomore midfielder Jackie Bellando (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Molly Briggs (Hershey, Pa.), freshman midfielder Gabby Codispoti (Baldwin, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Sarah Kelley (Bedford, N.H.), sophomore defender Lizzy Leahy (Hingham, Mass.), freshman goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.), junior defender Maggie McGoldrick (Cohasset, Mass.), sophomore midfielder Cassie Muzik (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior defender Biz Shenk (Chatham, N.J.).
A total of 115 student-athletes from women's soccer teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the fall semester.
