Women’s Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision To New Hampshire
DURHAM, N.H. – Holy Cross returned to action Wednesday evening as they headed north to take on New Hampshire. After 90 minutes of play, the Crusaders were unable to find the back of the Wildcat net and ended the match with a 2-0 loss. Holy Cross is now 2-6 on the season and New Hampshire moves to 2-6-1.
The Crusader offense had difficulty finding their rhythm, as they were outshot by the Wildcats 17-9 on the night. Senior Liz Early (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and junior Maura Fox (Shrewsbury, Mass.) were able to put their first half shots on net, but none of the three Holy Cross shots in the second half found their final destination on goal.
Kelly Spencer of New Hampshire scored the first goal of the game in the 21st minute on a deep shot from the left flank. Chelsea Kuss added the Wildcats' second tally in the 66th minute to finish off the scoring. Holy Cross freshman goalkeeper Carly McCabe (Barrington, R.I.) recorded another seven saves for the game.
The Crusaders will have one day to rest and then return to action Friday, Sept. 23, as they host Vermont. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
