WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head women's soccer coach Darren Gallagher has named seniors Michaela Morgan (Centerville, Ohio) and Lauren Wright (Biglerville, Pa.), along with juniors Maura Fox (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Maggie McGoldrick (Cohasset, Mass.) as captains for the 2011 season.
Wright, a fifth-year senior, will serve as captain for the third consecutive season. The senior midfielder was sidelined in the 2009 season with an injury and returned to the pitch last season starting in all 17 games for the Crusaders. Morgan started in 16 games last season on defense and has seen action in 53 games as a Crusader.
Fox and McGoldrick will also serve as captains for the Crusaders. A year ago, Fox finished second on the team with three goals and one assist for seven points. McGoldrick started in all 17 games for the Crusaders as a defender.
Holy Cross kicks off the 2011 season on Aug. 25 with a home game against Hartford at 7:00 p.m. The Crusaders are looking to rebound from a 3-12-2 record a year ago and return to the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since winning it in 2000.
