Holy Cross Womens Soccer Blanked At Brown, 2-0
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown's Maddie Wiener scored a goal in the first half and another in the second as the Holy Cross women's soccer team fell, 2-0, in Providence Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 3-5-2, while the Bears improve to 5-3-3.
Wiener scored her first goal of the season at the 39:30 mark in the first half to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Wiener then scored again at the 48:20 mark to put Brown up by two goals. Holy Cross has unable to get its offense going, falling 2-0 to the Bears,
Senior goalkeeper Mary Ferketic (West Hartford, Conn.) combined time with sophomore Ashlyn Angell (Raleigh, N.C.) in net for the Crusaders. Ferketic recorded four saves and suffered her fourth loss of the season, while Angell marked two saves. Brown's MC Barret and Amber Bledsoe combined for 90 minutes in goal, recording a combined three saves. Brown outshot Holy Cross 23-10.
Holy Cross returns home for Patriot League action on Friday and Sunday, Oct. 8 and 10, against American and Navy. Game time against American is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., while start time on Sunday against Navy is at 1:00 p.m.
