Holy Cross Womens Soccer Drops 4-1 Match At Wagner
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team couldn't stop Wagner's offense, falling 4-1 to the Seahawks on Sunday afternoon in Staten Island, N.Y. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 1-3-0, while the Seahawks improve to 3-2-0.
Wagner took a 2-0 lead early in the first half when Julie Vigliotti scored twice, the first goal coming just 53 seconds into the game and the second at the 19:21 mark. Holy Cross senior Shelby Stand (Douglas, Mass.) cut into the Seahawk's lead when she scored her second goal of the season off a pass by sophomore Maura Fox (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Wagner's offense stayed on the attack, scoring at the 68:10 mark and again at the 83:45 mark to win the game 4-1.
Senior Mary Ferketic (West Hartford, Conn.) suffered her second loss of the season, falling to 0-2-0. Ferketic allowed four goals and recorded three saves. Wagner goalkeeper Katie Marcy picked up her third win of the season, improving to 3-2-0. Marcy allowed just one goal and recorded one save.
Holy Cross returns to the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium to take on Quinnipiac on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2:00 p.m.
