WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team has placed 28 student-athletes on the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials. Leading the Crusaders was Emily Atkinson (Northampton, Mass.), who was one of just eight rowing student-athletes in the conference to earn a 4.00 grade-point average during the spring semester. In addition, senior Valerie Jackson (East Lyme, Conn.) was named to the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year. Holy Cross' 28 total selections to the Academic Honor Roll were the second most in the conference.
In addition to Atkinson and Jackson, representing the Crusaders are seniors Alexandra Dempsey (Winter Park, Fla.), Erika Furtado (Dayton, Maine), Christie Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine), Allison Kaufman (Northport, N.Y.) and Caitlin Rushworth (Newport, R.I.); juniors Clare Bracikowski (Brentwood, Tenn.), Johanna Cubelli (Boonton Township, N.J.), Katie Donnelly (Marstons Mills, Mass.), Emily Joseph (Leominster, Mass.) and Meridith Malysz (Wilbraham, Mass.); sophomores Chloe Gordon (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Erika Harrington (Bellingham, Wash.), Caroline Krug (Hamburg, N.Y.), Monika Mangsen (Holden, Mass.), Mara Piltin (Medford, N.J.), Jessica Ripp (Amherst, N.H.), Emily Samartino (Bristol, Conn.) and Andrea Simari (Rochester, Minn.); and freshmen Courtney Brown (Londonderry, N.H.), Shannon Driscoll (Northampton, Mass.), Rachel Dutton (Burlington, Mass.), Liz Flaherty (Lexington, Mass.), Sarah Jones (Kennebunkport, Maine), Claire Moynahan (Sandwich, Mass.), Elizabeth Pavacic (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Sarah Weinstein (Nashua, N.H.).
A total of 92 student-athletes from women's rowing teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter.
