CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Holy Cross women's rowing junior Malgorzata Smas (Bristol, Conn.) has been named to the All-Patriot League women's rowing teams, as announced by the conference office. Smas rowed on the women's first varsity eight team, placing fourth in their race at the Patriot League Championship on April 27 at Cooper River in Camden County, N.J.
The Patriot League named 11 student-athletes which includes 10 rowers and one coxswain to the All-League team.
The rowers are named to the All-League team based on how their varsity eight teams finish at the Patriot League Championship. The first-place team is allowed three rowers and one coxswain, the second-place boat is allowed three rowers and the third-place boat can place two rowers on the All-League team. Both fourth and fifth-place finishers are allowed one rower on the All-Patriot League team.
This year, Bucknell placed first in the race, followed by Navy, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Lehigh. Smas and the Holy Cross varsity eight team finished with a time of 7:17.50, placing third overall in the championship.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, May 3, when they host the New England Championship at Lake Quinsigamond.
