Women's Rowing Starts Out Strong at New Hampshire Championships

Manchester, N.H. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team started out their fall schedule strong finish in the women's eight open Saturday in at the New Hampshire Championship Regatta in Manchester N.H. The team took a very close second in the race, finishing less than a second behind the team from Vermont who won the race. The Varsity Eight compiled of junior Alexandra Dempsey (Winter Park, FL), sophomores Jennifer Beaudoin (Holden, Mass.), Clare Bracikowski (Nashville, Tenn.), Johanna Cubelli (Boonton Township, N.J.) Lindsey Donovan (Milton, Mass.), Elisabeth Flaherty (Lincolnwood, Ill.), Laura Andrews (Marlborough, Mass.) and freshman Ashley Fish (Hingham, Mass.). The Crusaders finished the race in 16:22, which was off only .38 on the start and .22 on the finish behind the winning Vermont entry.

The Crusader's second entry in the race was team made up of seniors Abigail Scully (Andover, Mass.), Delia Rissmiller (Belmont, Mass.), Megan Russell (Andover, Mass.), juniors Meghan Quinn (Philadelphia, PA), Christine Repoli (Marlboro, N.J.), sophomores Kelly St. Germain (Cambridge, Mass.), Malgorzata Smas (Briston, Conn.) and freshmen Jessica Ripp (Amherst, N.H.) and Mara Piltin (Medford, N.J.). The Holy Cross team finished 13 of 22 teams with a time of 17:19.

The Crusaders are back on the water at the nationally known Head of the Charles races in Boston Mass. on Saturday and Sunday October 21 and 22. Races are scheduled to begin at 8:00AM.
