WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team competed in the 2007 ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta on Saturday and Sunday in Whitney Point, N.Y. There were 33 teams from all over the country present at this regatta. Several heats and semifinals took place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, before high winds forced the cancelation of all remaining heats and all finals.
On Saturday, the varsity eight raced in the first heat and placed third with a time of 6:51.431. Trinity and Coast Guard were first and second with times of 6:41.057 and 6:50.744 respectively. Mount Holyoke was fourth at 7:06.711 and St. Lawrence rounded out the race at 7:13.992. The following day, the Crusaders finished fifth in the second semifinal at 7:01.382. Trinity (6:48.83), New Hampshire (6:53.879), Mary Washington (6:56.013) and Colby (6:58.967) were ahead of the Crusaders, and Tufts (7:01.729) closed out the race.
The second varsity eight boat competed in the first heat and came in second with a time of 7:06.790, while Ithaca was first at 7:01.719. Williams at 7:10.494, Mount Holyoke at 7:13.083, Mary Washington at 7:16.459, Coast Guard at 7:18.594 and Smith at 7:22.912 followed the Crusaders.
The novice eight raced in the second heat and finished in 7:17.187, which put them in third place. St. Lawrence was first with a time of 7:02.332, followed by Smith at 7:11.754. Texas was fourth at 7:24.272 and New Hampshire came in fifth at 7:30.133.
This event was the final race of the year for the Holy Cross women's rowing team.
