WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team hosted the ECAC National Invitational Championship this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond with the final events scored this afternoon.
The women's varsity eight boat competed in the petite final, finishing only 1.2 seconds behind The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, with a time of 7:06.593. The second varsity eight boat won their heat in the morning in order to compete in the grand final in the afternoon; the boat placed fifth in the grand final with a time of 7:53.729, while Williams earned the first-place finish with a time of 7:28.553. The Crusaders' third varsity eight boat finished second in their heat in order to go on to the grand finals in the afternoon; the boat earned a bronze medal in the grand final with a time of 7:29.404, behind Williams College who placed first with a time of 7:06.689. The women's novice eight also raced well in their heat, finishing in third place, in order to compete in the grand finals; the boat finished fourth in the grand final race with a time of 7:51.485.
The Crusaders will return to action when they travel to Henley, England for the Women's Henley Regatta June 20-22.
