KINGSTON, R.I. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team traveled to Rhode Island and won three of five events in its final tune up before the Patriot League Championship at Lake Quinsigamond. The Crusaders were victorious in the varsity eight, varsity four and second novice eight races on Saturday.
In the varsity eight race, Holy Cross would defeat the Rams by over six seconds as they finished in a time of 8:00.3. Rhode Island would clock a time of 8:06.86.
The Crusader women would also win the varsity four race with a time of 9:26.11, beating out Rhode Island who finished with a time of 9:31.01.
Holy Cross would take a third race on the morning, defeating the Rams in the second novice eight race with a time of 9:14.7.
The second varsity eight crew would fall to the Rams (8:26.91), recording a time of 8:44.29.
In the novice eight race, Holy Cross (9:05.07) was unable to overcome the Rhode Island crew, which finished in a time of 8:42.41.
The Holy Cross women will compete again on Sunday morning in the Patriot League Championship beginning at 8:00 a.m. Other Patriot League teams competing in the second annual event will be Navy, Colgate, Bucknell and Lehigh. The Crusaders finished third overall in 2005.
