Women's Rowing Places Third In Patriot League Championship

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team placed third in the 2008 Patriot League Championship with a total of 15 points. Bucknell and Navy both finished with 27 points, and the Bison grabbed the first place finish by winning of the varsity eight race. Colgate was fourth with 13 points, while Lehigh had seven points to finish fifth.
The Crusaders' varsity eight team of Katie Donnelly Clare Bracikowski, Mara Piltin, Johanna Cubelli, Lis Flaherty, Abby Hammond, Valerie Jackson, Monika Mangsen, and Gosha Smas placed fourth in their race with a time of 7:17.50. The second varsity team of Caroline Krug, Kelly St. Germain, Ashley Fish, Meridith Malysz, Nicole Gabana, Katherine Byrns, Michelle Dwyer, Alexandra Dempsey, and Erika Furtado finished in third place with a time of 7:33.75. With a time of 8:41.41, the varsity four team of Victoria Vergara, Erika Harrington, Andrea Simari, Allison Kaufman, and Caitlin Rushworth finished third in their race.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, May 3, when they host the New England Championship at 8:00 a.m.
