CAMDEN, N.J. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team finished in third place at the 2009 Patriot League Championship, held on the Cooper River. Bucknell claimed the team title with 30 points, followed by Navy (24 points) and Holy Cross (16 points). Colgate (nine points) and Lehigh (nine points) rounded out the standings.
In the varsity eight, Bucknell placed first in a time of 6:46.06, while Navy came in second in a time of 6:50.21. The Crusaders' boat of Katie Donnelly, Monika Mangsen, Lis Flaherty, Johanna Cubelli, Abby Hammond, Meaghan Pedlow, Bethany Charron, Clare Bracikowski and Nicole Gabana finished third with a time of 7:04.55.
Holy Cross' second varsity eight boat of Laura LeBourdais, Kelly St. Germain, Mara Piltin, Odet Douglass, Maura Hogan, Jaqueline Esperti, Katherine Byrns, Meridith Malysz and Malgorzata Smas also earned a third place finish in a time of 7:18.89. Bucknell won the event (6:57.07), followed by Navy (7:01.97) in second.
The Holy Cross varsity four of Amanda Woodgate, Jackie Jankowski, Mary Kate Cullen, Jennifer Beaudoin and Jessica Ripp took fifth place with a time of 8:37.59. Bucknell took first in the varsity four in a time of 7:45.40, and Navy captured second place with a time of 7:48.18. In the novice eight, the Crusaders took third place in a time of 7:57.13, while Bucknell was first (7:04.01) and Navy was second (7:14.23).
Holy Cross will return to action when it takes part in the New England Championship on May 2-3.
