Men's Rowing Team Wins Seven Races As Women Take Three

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's crew team continued its strong season as they won seven races on Saturday at Lake Quinsigamond. The Crusader women also picked up three victories on the day.
On Saturday morning, the men's and women's teams hosted Ithaca, Tufts, Colby, and Connecticut College. In the afternoon, New Hampshire and RIT were apart of the men's action as UConn and RIT took on the Crusader women.
The Holy Cross varsity eight boat, with a time of 6:03.1, was victorious against the full field on Saturday morning. The Crusaders beat out second place Ithaca by 12 seconds.
In the men's second varsity eight race, Holy Cross took first with a time of 6:24.0 to pick up wins over Tufts and Colby.
The men's novice eight (6:30.95) and second novice eight (7:09.6) crews also won their races in the morning over Ithaca. Holy Cross took second to Connecticut College in the men's varsity four.
In the afternoon, the men's varsity eight boat took home another win in a time of 6:00.8. The varsity four crew also defeated RIT to get a victory in a time of 6:53.75. Also winning their race was the men's novice eight crew (6:24.32).
For the Holy Cross women, the morning was highlighted by two wins by the novice eight (7:42.3) and second novice eight (7:48.65) boats, which beat out Ithaca, Smith, Tufts and Connecticut College to get the wins.
The women's varsity eight took fourth overall in the morning as the second and third varsity eight boats took fourth and second, respectively. In the women's varsity four race, the Crusaders took third overall in a time of 8:24.3.
During the afternoon, the Holy Cross women picked up their third victory of the day with a win over UConn in the novice eight race. The Crusaders took first in a time of 7:28.0.
In the varsity eight competition, Holy Cross was the runner-up to UConn in a time of 6:45.0. The Crusaders also finished second in the second varsity eight race and third in the varsity fours.
The Holy Cross men will travel to New Hampshire tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. to compete with the Wildcats in Durham, N.H. Next up for the women is a competition on Saturday, April 29 at Rhode Island beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Kingston, R.I.
