WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team competed against Colby, Connecticut College, Ithaca, Tufts and Vassar at Lake Quinsigamond in their fourth home event of the season. The women's second varsity eight made up of Caroline Krug, Kelly St. Germain, Erika Furtado, Katherine Byrns, Michelle Dwyer, Alexandra Dempsey, Nicole Gabana, Meredith Malysz, and Ashley Fish led the day for Holy Cross, placing first in their event with a time of 7:04.2.
The women's varsity eight squad of Katie Donnelly, Clare Bracikowski, Mara Piltin, Johanna Cubelli, Lis Flaherty, Abby Hammond, Valerie Jackson, Monika Mangsen, and Gosha Smas finished second in their race with a time of 6:48.6, just behind Ithaca who placed first with a time of 6:48.6.
The women's novice eight squard of Christie Kapothanasis, Shannon Driscoll, Laura Dillon, Tina Milne, Rachel Dutton, Odet Douglass, Elizabeth Flaherty, Claire Moynahan, and Emily Samartino finished third in their event with a time of 7:44.9 ahead of Connecticut College (8:03.9). The women's novice four boat of Sarah Jones, Emily Atkinson, Sarah Weinstein, and Elizabeth Pavacic had a strong showing their event, finishing with a time of 9:38.
The Crusaders return to action tomorrow, April 20, hosting MIT and Trinity at 8:00 a.m.
