WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team competed against Mount Holyoke, Smith and Trinity at Lake Quinnsigamond on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders' second varsity eight boat of coxswain Laura LeBourdais and rowers Kelly St. Germain, Mara Piltin, Odet Douglass, Maura Hogan, Jaqueline Esperti, Katherine Byrns, Meredith Malysz and Malgorzata Smas finished first in their race with a time of 6:55 followed by Trinity (6:59), Mount Holyoke (7:09) and Smith (7:13).
Holy Cross' varsity eight boat of of coxswain Katie Donnelly and rowers Clare Bracikowski, Nicole Gabana, Johanna Cubelli, Monika Mangsen, Meaghan Pedlow, Bethany Charron, Abby Hammond and Elisabeth Flaherty finished third in their race with a time of 6:51. Trinity recorded a first place time of 6:40 while Smith placed second (6:50) and Mount Holyoke closed out the race in fourth place with a time of 7:00.
In the third varsity eight race, Trinity won with a time of 7:06. Mount Holyoke finished second with a time of 7:14 while Smith recorded a third place time of 7:15. Holy Cross' boat of coxswain Amanda Woodgate and rowers Callie Gorman, Sarah Palilla, Jackie Jankowski, Mary Kate Cullen, Jennifer Beaudoin, Sarah Weinstein, Clare Bracikowski and Laura Dillon finished up the race in fourth place with a time of 7:26.
In the novice eight race, Mount Holyoke finished with a first place time of 7:14, followed by Smith (7:23) and Holy Cross' boat of coxswain Jillian Sollazzo, Eliza Gettel, Mollie Sydlowski, Simone Blanchard, Caroline Cataldo, Katherine Studzinski, Katherine Broderick, Jessica Daly and Amy Boerman with a time of 7:41.
The women's rowing team returns to action on Saturday, April 18, hosting Connecticut College, Ithaca, Tufts and Williams.
