WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team hosted Radcliffe and Smith at Lake Quinnisgamond on Sunday afternoon.The second varsity eight boat of Laura LeBourdais, Kelly St. Germain, Mara Piltin, Odet Douglass, Maura Hogan, Jaqueline Esperti, Katherine Byrns, Meredith Malysz and Malgorzata Smas grabbed a first place finish with a time of 7:23, followed by Radcliffe (7:29.1) and Smith (7:36.8).
Holy Cross' third varsity eight boat of Amanda Woodgate, Jackie Jankowski, Laura Dillon, Jennifer Beaudoin, Mary Kate Cullen, Jessica Ripp, Sarah Weinstein, Claire Moynihan and Courtney Brown finished with a time of 7:47.5, just behind Smith, who finished first with a time of 7:47.0.
The women's varsity eight boat of Katie Donnelly, Clare Bracikowski, Bethany Charron, Johanna Cubelli, Monika Mangsen, Meaghan Pedlow, Nicole Gabana, Abby Hammond and Elisabeth Flaherty finished second in their race with a time of 6:39, following Radcliffe (6:35) who placed first in the race. Smith finished in third place with a time of 6:43.
The Crusaders' novice eight boat squad of Jillian Sollazzo, Callie Gorman, Sarah Palilla, Simone Blanchard, Mollie Sydlowski, Katherine Studzinski, Emma Pellerin, Eliza Gettel and Katherine Broderick placed third in their race with a time of 7:29. Radcliffe grabbed first place with a time of 7:23 while Smith placed second (7:29) and Smith B (7:38) finished in fourth place.
The women's rowing team returns to action on Saturday, April 4, hosting New Hampshire and Williams at 8:00 a.m.
