Michele Grenier Named To Patriot League All-Academic Team

Michele Grenier

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior member of the women's rowing team Michele Grenier (Menands, N.Y.) has been named to the Patriot League All-Academic team. This is the first time that Grenier has earned this honor. She was one of 11 student-athletes from around the league selected to the team.

Grenier, who has a 3.63 grade-point average as an English major, was a member of the varsity four in the last six regattas of the spring season including placing third at the Patriot League Championship. She was selected as a Dana Scholar for the 2012-2013 school year. Recipients of the scholarship are students of sound academic ability who have the potential for or have demonstrated desired qualities of character and leadership. She earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades as a freshman and sophomore, while she studied abroad in Ireland as a junior. Grenier was the Co-Chair of Holy Cross for a Cure for three years as she coordinated numerous events to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. She also volunteered as a senior interviewer for the Holy Cross admissions office and was an intern with Ball and Sargent PC- a law firm in Worcester.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team the student-athlete has to have at least a 3.20 total grade point average and be a starter or a key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The Crusaders concluded the 2012-2013 season by placing third out of six teams at the Patriot League Championship on Lake Quinsigamond on May 17. The Crusaders placed second in the second varsity eight race and were third in the varsity four race. This was the best ever result for a Holy Cross second varsity eight boat at the Patriot League Championship and the program's second silver medal, as the varsity four placed second in 2005.
