Women’s Rowing Places Ninth At Eastern Sprints
CAMDEN, N.J. – The third varsity eight won the grand final as the Holy Cross women's rowing team placed ninth out of 12 teams with 42 total points at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday on the Cooper River. Brown won the team championship with 116 points. The varsity eight and varsity four each placed second in the petite final, while the second varsity eight placed third in the petite final.
The varsity eight placed fourth in its heat out of six boats with a time of 7:23.275 as No. 15 Columbia tallied the win with a time of 7:10.979, Navy placed second with a time of 7:15.627 and Buffalo placed third with a time of 7:19.221. The Crusaders then placed second in the petite final with a time of 7:33.398. Georgetown won with a time of 7:26.752.
The second varsity eight placed sixth in its heat with a time of 7:59.225 as Columbia won with a time of 7:21.179. The Crusaders then placed third in the petite final with a time of 7:57.918, while Buffalo won with a time of 7:39.547 and Georgetown placed second with a time of 7:53.877.
The varsity four placed fourth in its heat with a time of 9:05.277. Columbia won with a time of 8:37.908. The Crusaders then placed second in the petite final with a time 8:40.297 as Buffalo posted the victory with a time of 8:39.154.
The third varsity eight won the grand final out of three boats with a time of 8:10.991 defeating Boston College (8:16.052) and Boston University (8:28.511).
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, May 17, when they will compete at the Patriot League Championship in Worcester, Mass., on Lake Quinsigamond.
