WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr., and rowing program director and head women's rowing coach Patrick Diggins have announced the women's schedule for the 2013 spring season. The Crusaders are scheduled to compete in eight regattas with four on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
Holy Cross will kick off the season on March 23, with the Beanpot Regatta on the Charles River versus Boston College, Boston University, MIT, Northeastern and Radcliffe. The Crusaders will then take on UMass (April 6) on Lake Quinsigamond, followed by the Knecht Cup (April 13-14) on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. Holy Cross will return to Lake Quinsigamond for a regatta versus Colby, Connecticut College and Ithaca (April 20), and for the Irving-Christensen Cup versus Boston College and UConn (April 21). The Crusaders will then take on George Mason and Rutgers (April 27) on the Raritan River in New Brunswick, N.J.
The Crusaders will return to the Cooper River for the Eastern Sprints (May 5) and then compete at the Patriot League Championship (May 17) on Lake Quinsigamond.
The varsity eight was very impressive during the 2012 fall season. The Crusaders placed first in the club eight race out of 17 boats at the Textile River Regatta, finished first out of 48 boats at the Snake Regatta, placed second in the club eight race out of 34 boats at the Head of the Charles Regatta and finished third in the open eight race out of 27 boats at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
