WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team had 23 student-athletes named to the 2012 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including seniors Kate Broderick (West Newbury, Mass.), Beth Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Jill Sollazzo (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Amanda Woodgate (Duxbury, Mass.) who were was named to the honor roll for the fourth time. Sollazzo and senior Simone Blanchard (Springfield, Mass.) led the team with 3.93 grade-point averages. Holy Cross' 23 selections were the second most in the league.
The other members of the team to be named to the Academic Honor Roll were seniors Jackie Esperti (Charlton, N.Y.), Mollie Sydlowski (Amesbury, Mass.); junior Aleks Torres (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.); sophomores Laura Alves (North Grosvenordale, Conn.), Lauren Carlo (Crofton, Md.), Ali Finn (Grafton, Mass.), Kristina Giangrande (Andover, Mass.), Kelsey Marakovits (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Meiling May (Hanover, Mass.), Kiley McLean (Elmhurst, Ill.), Bridget Schirripa (Lexington, Mass.) and Elizabeth Tobey (Essex, Vt.); and freshmen Maggie Casey (Pasadena, Calif.), Kate Diggins (Holden, Mass.), Shalynn Doherty (Sandwich, Mass.), Casey Donahoe (Canton, Mass.), Jackie Hanna (Annapolis, Md.) and Abbey Wilkman (Old Lyme, Conn.).
A total of 126 student-athletes from women's rowing teams around the league were named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll a winter or spring sport student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester.
