WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team raced versus Bates, Rochester, Trinity, Wellesley and WPI on Lake Quinsigamond as the second varsity eight placed first. The second varsity eight opened the season with two straight first-place finishes as it also won a race versus Simmons and Smith on March 31 in the season-opener.
The Crusaders won the second varsity eight race with a time of 7:31.6, while Bates (7:38.1) placed second, Trinity (7:39.9) finished third, Wellesley (7:44.8) placed fourth, WPI (7:46.7) finished fifth and Rochester (8:11.0) placed sixth. Bates took the varsity eight race with a time of 7:13.4, while it was followed by Trinity (7:19.0), Wellesley (7:20.0), Holy Cross (7:20.5), Rochester (7:37.8) and WPI (7:42.0).
Bates earned the first-place finish in the varsity four race with a time of 8:20.0, while the Crusaders (8:38.1) placed second, Trinity (8:57.6) placed third, Wellesley (9:02.0) placed fourth and WPI's novice four (9:45.4) placed fifth. Bates claimed the novice eight race with a time of 7:05.6 as it was followed by Wellesley (7:20.0), Trinity (7:24.0), WPI's third varsity eight (7:45.6), Rochester (7:50.0) and the Crusaders (7:59.0).
The Crusaders return to action on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, April 7, versus Boston College and UMass at 9:45 a.m.
