Women's Rowing Wins Two Races In Spring Season-Opener

WORCESTER, Mass. ­­– The Holy Cross women's rowing team won two of its four races on Lake Quinsigamond in the Crusaders' spring season-opener versus various schools. The varsity eight and the second varsity eight each placed first.

The varsity eight placed first in its race with a time of 6:54, while Simmons (7:01) finished second and Smith (7:26) placed third. The Crusaders (7:05) also won the second varsity eight race, while Simmons (7:14) placed second and Smith (7:25) finished third. The varsity four placed second in its race with a time of 8:04. Bowdoin (7:53) won the race, while UMass Lowell (8:05) placed third and Clark (8:09) finished fourth. The novice eight (8:01) placed in third as Smith "A" (7:39) finished first, Smith "B" (7:46) placed second and Smith "C" (8:36) finished fourth.   

The Crusaders return to action on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday, April 1, versus Bates, Rochester, Trinity, Wellesley and WPI at 10:20 a.m.

Holy Cross second varsity eight: Kristina Giangrande (coxswain), Jackie Esperti, Kelsey Marakovits, Lauren Carlo, Simone Blanchard, Kate Diggins, Adrienne Randall, Abbey Wilkman, Sally Quinn.

Holy Cross varsity four: Meiling May (coxswain), Elizabeth Tobey, Samantha Granison, Ali Finn, Kiley McLean.

Holy Cross novice eight: Marissa Solberg (coxswain), Casey Donahoe, Eugenia Minondo, Lauren Connolly, Kathleen O'Hara, Shalynn Doherty, Siena Repetti Schmitt, Sarah Moroz, Maggie Casey.
