WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing program has named seniors Beth Charron (Manchester, N.H.), Meaghan Pedlow (Charlotte, N.C.) and Mollie Sydlowski (Amesbury, Mass.) as 2011-2012 team captains. Senior Jackie Esperti (Charlton, N.Y.) has also been named a team vice captain. This is the second straight season that Charron will be a captain.
Charron, Pedlow and Sydlowski were all members of the varsity eight during the 2010-2011 season. The varsity eight placed first versus Boston College and Connecticut to win the Irving-Christensen Cup, defeated UMass in a dual-race, placed fourth at the Patriot League Championship and finished fifth at the New England Championship.
Also this past season, Charron earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete honors and was a member of the inaugural Patriot League All-Academic team. She is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has rowed with the varsity eight for all three seasons. As a sophomore, Pedlow earned second team All-Patriot League honors and received All-ECAC National Invitational accolades. She is a three-year member of the varsity eight. Sydlowski, who was a member of the varsity eight for her sophomore and junior years, earned 2011 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades.
Esperti is a three-year member of the second varsity eight. This past season, the second varsity eight defeated New Hampshire and Simmons in dual-races. The second varsity eight also placed third at the Patriot League Championship and at the New England Championship. As a sophomore she was a member of a boat that placed third at the Patriot League Championship and second at the New England Championship, while as a freshman the second varsity eight finished third at the Patriot League Championship and second at the ECAC National Invitational Championship.
